  Preserving and Advancing
the Legacy of Structural Glass

From the 1900's
Glass was a common building component years ago due to its strength and light sharing abilities. Unfortunately, many of the nations treasured landmarks need repair or even expansion. Circle Redmont developed its Landmark Replication Division to answer the need. The subway system in New York is a prime example. Builders in the1920's wanted to bring in natural light to the underground rail system. So, they devised a glass paver system to serve as a roof to the subways while providing a sidewalk above.

During World War II, these sidewalks were covered with concrete to observe mandatory black outs. There were forgotten for decades. Now the classic beauty and functional benefits are returning as the subway lines are being renovated. Circle Redmont has remastered the paver designs of the past to retain the charm and light sharing while they improved the system integrity and engineering it to require very little maintenance. Circle Redmont is the New York Transit Authority's reliable source for this valuable preservation process.

From the 1800's
To replace existing vault light sidewalk areas while preserving the charm and historic value of an 1800's period area in New York, Circle Redmont replicated glass bullets in cast iron panels. Our 81R™ panels with their hundreds of tiny 1-1/2" solid glass bullets, were each custom molded and cast into precisely reproduced detail. Recognized by The New York Historic Preservation "Landmarks"Committee as a suitable replacement for yesterday's cast iron & glass areas, 81R panels also meet today's rigid building codes and live load requirements.

In addition to glass paver panels, Circle Redmont can also replicate doors, windows, gates, and all kinds of architectural elements from any period in history.
